FREIGHT SHORTAGE.
COMMODITIES HELD UP. Per Fuess Association. Wellington January 17. The Wellington wool brokers met today to consider the position arising out of the shortage of freight. About. 35,000 bales have been catalogued for next week's sale, and freight m sight is only sufficient'lor 15,000 bales. Inquiries arc being made in Australia, and it is hoped space may be obtainable, so that the forthcoming North Island sales may be held as arranged. Meantime wharf shed accommodation is taxed to the utmost, and unless the woo] is lifted soon growers will be compelled to hold their clips up-coun-try. Flax and other produce not requiring insulated space is equally affected by the freight shortage.
