The High Commissioner reports: London, January 17 (4.25 p.m.) In the House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain announced that General Aylmer reported on Friday that the enemy was retiring and that on Saturday the whole Wadi position was captured, the enemy retiring six miles to the east of Kut, where he occupied a position at Essin.

General Aylmer reports that the position was hampered by bad weather.
