! ON TO KUT-IL-AMARA. GENERAL AYLMER'S TASK. i ' Unitku Pukss Ashuuiatiuis. , London, January 17. ! The Daily Mail's Athens correspondent says that the German military action is at present concentrated against the British in Mesopotamia, and General Aylmer is likely to be compelled to pierce strong bodies of the enemy. I General von der Goltz has visited Kut-el-Amara on an inspection tour. THE ENEMY RETIRtNC. AYLMER HAMPERED BY WEATHER. The High Commissioner reports: London, January 17 (4.25 p.m.) In the House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain announced that General Aylmer reported on Friday that the enemy was retiring and that on Saturday the whole Wadi position was captured, the enemy retiring six miles to the east of Kut, where he occupied a position at Essin.
General Aylmer reports that the position was hampered by bad weather.
