MONTENEGRINS UP AGAINST IT. FURIOUS AUSTRIAN ATTACKS. j LUnixku Pbkbb Association.} Cettinge, January 11. The Austrians made furious onslaughts for several days on our front at Ipek, and reached our first line at Mount- Lovtchen under cover of an uninterrupted stream of shells from the warships and Cattaro forts. ' We repulsed them with enormous loss until asphyxiating gas forced ns to abandon a portion -of our position. The fighting continues. Amsterdam, January 12. ■ An Austrian communique claims that the Austrians have captured Lovtchen and Berane.
Cettinge, January 12
A communique reports: A most violent battle is raging on the fierzegovinian front. The Austrians brought up 23 battalions and SO guns. The enemy are fiercely attacking Lovtchen, and are constantly using gas. The Montenegrins failed to hold the important position of Kuk, but the enemy were driven back near Berane with heavy losses. A NEW PRETENDER. GERMANY'S LATEST PUPPET. (Received 11 a.m.) London, January 12. The Daily News' Rowo correspondent says the illegitimate sou of King Milan, who has been residing in Vienna since the war, has been sent to Belgrade and proclaimed King of Serbia. THE FALL OF LOVTCHEN. (Received II a.m.) Amsterdam, January 12. An Austrian communique states: |We captured twenty-six guns at 'Lovtchen. j Home, January 12. I The fall of Lovtchen was due to lack of ammunition and as Lovtchen 'commanded Cettinge, the capital has 'been transferred to Podgoritza.
