An Auckland Press Association telegram states that 635 men of the 12th Reinforcements and probationary Non-Coms, for the 14th left by the three o’clock train for southern efimps to-day.
The sum of €lß9l 13s 10d was paid
into Public Account at the Bank of New Zealand to-day, being the totalisator tax. dividend duty, and stamp duty on the stakes by the Stratford Racing Club.
Mr J. McCluggage is in receipt of a telegram from Mr H. Brooking, on the West Coast, stating that the engine and prospecting plant for the Five Mile Beach Goldmining Company had arrived safely at Okarito, and will be m working order in fourteen days.
