Amongst the more drastic measures for the better training of recruits, General McCay recommends that where after repeated efforts they fail to become proficient they should be discharged.' They would be of little use in the firing Hue, and it is in the interests Of everyone to get rid of them.

WARNING TO DISLOYALISTS.
SECOND WAR LOAN.

The Prime Minister, Mr Jtlughes, has warned disloyalists that anything done to prejudice recruiting will be visited with a condition of punishment. He referred to the resolutions passed by various bodies advising the people not to till in the recruiting cards as most ill-advised. Proceeding, he said, he believed those voting for such measures were mislead by specious misrepresentations of the Government's scheme as conscription, which was utterly misleading, the scheme differing from conscription as night differs from day.
I The Federal Treasurer is appealing to every one receiving over £3OO a year to subscribe to the second Commonwealth War Loan.
