THE NINTH REINFORCEMENTS.

Peb Press Association

Wellington, January 8

The 9th Reinforcements, with 3rd Reinforcements of the Ist and 2nd Battalions of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, and an advance party of the 3rd and 4th Battalions of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, made their first public appearance in Wellington this afternoon, when they mustered on Waterloo Quay, opposite King's Wharf, for a route march through the city. The weather, though dull, was fine, and thousands of spectators lined the streets. In the 2500 odd troops drawn up on Waterloo Quay the public were able to .see for themselves what a really splendid body of men the 9ths are. Physically they equalled the high standard of the best that hav© gone before, while as for fitness they were a picture of health and energy. The troops, were under the command of Major R. C- Allen, 6th (Hauraki) Regiment. Numerous bands were distributed through the length of the column.
