THE PERSIA TRAGEDY. LORD MONTAGUE'S EXPERIENCE [TJnttkd Press London, January o. Lord .John Montague cables that he had a marvellous escape: He clung to a broken boat for thirty-two hours, and was rescued late on Friday night by a million to one chance. Nineteen were alive at sunset on Thursday and eleven were alive on Friday. The Persia's officers and crew did all that was possible.
EAST CENTRAL AFRICA. BRITISH NAVAL SUCCESS. (Received 10.45 a.m.) London, January 6. The commander of the Naval exipedition to Lake Tanganyika reports they attacked on twenty-sixth December the German armed steamer King'ani, and compelled her surrender. All the German officers were killed. The Kingani wa s brought to 'port in a sinking condition.
