Detective Sergeant Siddell and Inspector Wilson left for Wanganui by the mail train this morning.
Thames is the appointment of Adjutant Cook, of the Salvation Army, and he will he succeeded in Stratford by Adjutant Rudd, who comes from Otahuhu.
Mr F. W. Pryko, of Carterton, is in Stratford on a short holiday, and is the guest of Mr J. Hignett. Responding; to the Call, Mr Pryke sold his business in Carterton and leaves shortly with the Reinforcements.
Cable advice lias been received by the Minister for Defence that the New Zealand war correspondent, Mr Malcolm Ross, is seriously ill. In the meantime Captain C. E. W. Bean, the Australian correspondent, is acting for Mr Boss.
Several returned soldiers who have been on furlough and who reported for medical inspection at Hawera last week have received notice to report at Trentham Camp: Private C. S. Kelly, January 17 ; Private F. Blake, January 17, and Private Wilson (son of Inspector Wilson, of the Agricultural Department), January 2-1. Private Fougere has received orders to proceed to Rotorua for treatment.
