WORK OF TRENTHAM BATTALION

The following special message has been received from Mr Malcolm Ross, the Official Now Zealand war correspondent ; “In the action on Christmas Day the Trentham First Battalion were ibsolutely cool and displayed groat courage under fire. They stormed Donga with the .Biliks, and advanced within two .hundred yards of the enemy, finally driving them off at the point of the bayonet. At night, carrying their wounded, they marched back seven miles to camp singing. They thoroughly enjoyed the day.” “The wounded in hospital at Cairo and at Alexandria are nearly all progressing favorably. The Seventh and Eighth Reinforcements are busy drilling and route marching. They create v very favorable impression.”
