In the 'first rollnd of the semi-finals, Nash (Palmerston North), 24, defeated Abbott .(Fitfcroy) 12; Smith (Fitzroy), To, beat ,£ohen (Wanganui), 13; Hollard (ijawera), 20, beat McFarlane (Wanganiji), 15; Fraser (St. John’s) drew the bye.
