CARDIFF PATRIOTIC.

(From bur own Correspondent). Other duties, Mr Editor, prevented me from reporting at the usual lime the proceedings at last month’s meeting, but here goes to bring things up to date. Committee met November 22. Present; Messrs Belcher (chairman), Richards, J. W. Rogers, G. Rogers, Crossley, Prebble, Stewart, J. Richards, Cameron, Marchant. The chairman reported atetendance of self and Mr Richards at two meetings at Stratford re patriotic organisation. Circulars read from Government Departments re War Funds; also War Funds Act; and hon. secretary’s reply to the effect that all information asked for had already been fully supplied in detail, and that the committee retained no cash in hand. Resolved. That the secretary apply to the Hon. Minister asking him to obtain approval from Audit Office of Mr A. Coleman, of Stratford, as auditor, he generously discharging that, duty without pay. Receipt from Internal Affairs, October 29, £ls for Belgian Relief. Acknowledgment from same of chairman’s statement of Sick and Wounded Trust Fund. (In spite of the return having been furnished, and of their own acknowdedgment of receipt, they have written to Mr Bel- , cher, again warning him of pains- and penalties if the return is not supplied. ’ High explosives are badly needed sometimes). ;l|usolved, that having in view the provisions of the 'War Funds Act, the committee deem it advisable to disband, and that it hereby disbanded at fpe close of the present meeting. Resolved, That Messrs Belcher and Marchant interview’ the chairman of the Stratford Patriotic Committee on the subject of receiving contributions at Cardiff for patriotic purposes, to be handed over to the Stratford Committee. Resolved, That the month’s contributions, including factory cheque, when to hand, be divided evenly between Belgian Relief and Sick and Wounded. Resolved, That the chairman sign the minute book when submitted to him and found correct. Votes of thanks accorded to Messrs Belcher and Marchant. Finance panned out thus: Newton King (proceeds Mr Morrison’s calves) £1 15s, Belcher £l, Mrs Belcher 10s, the Misses Belcher 10s, A Belcher 10s, McFadgen (from October) £2,- A. J. Smith £l, Mrs Smith £l, J. Richardson (from October) £l, Miss Willcocks ss, W. Richards £2, J. Richards, senr., 10s, J. Stewart £l,. J. Richards, junr., £l, Prebble £l, Cameron £l, Mrs Cameron £l, A. Steer (four months at ss) £l, Watkins ss, Gibbings ss, G. Rogers 10s, Marchant family £4, Rogers £2,’ Mrs Rogers £l, Dairy Factory £l7 7s Id, subscription Id. Total £4.3 7s 2d, providing £2l 13s 7d to each of the two funds previously named. Mr Belcher supplied additional 5d to make even shillings for P.O. Savings Bank, bringing Sick and Wounded Trust Fund np to £129 Is. Cardiff contributions to date £630 10s 9d. ~ December 22.—A general meeting was held. The schoolroom was not exactly packed, hut demands on both time and money have been fairly plentiful the last week or two. Mr Belcher was voted to the chair. Contributions received; Dairy Factory £ll 17s 6d, Bennett £l, Cardiff Patriotic Concert £lO 14s 9d, do. part proceeds cake presented by Mr Elder '£6 13s (more to follow), Miss M'll- ! cocks ss. Marchant family £4, CamVon £l, Rogers £2, Mrs Rogers £l, Miss Rogers ss, G. Rogers 10s, A. Friend £1 Is. Belcher £l, Mrs Belcher 10s the Misses Belcher 10s, A. Belcher 10s. Total £42 1.6 sM. Total to date £67:1 7s. The proceeds of concert and cake, viz.. £l< ' s J ,( ’ having been ear-marked for the Sick and Wounded, were devoted to that fund, and the balance of £25 Ss 6d was voted to Serbian relief, Mr Belcher to hand it over to the Stratford Committee if tbev will receive it for that purpose; if not, then for him to see that the Serbians receive it through some other channel.
