CHRISTMAS BOX FOR REBELS. RELEASED ON A PLEDGE. [United Pbesb Association.] (Received 8.30 a.m.) Johannesburg, December 22. Release followed the payment of fines and the signature of a pledge to abstain from political agitation. The rebels were gratified and regard their freedom practically as a Christmas Box.
FOREIGN PRESS IMPRESSED. CONTRAST To GERMAN METHODS [United Press Association.] (Received 8.30 a.m.) Amsterdam, December 22. Newspapers comment on the magnanimity towards De Wet. which contrasts with the German method, where a bullet would probably have been his fate.
