ANOTHER NOTE TO AUSTRIA. United Peebs Association. Washington, December 18. A hurriedly-called Cabinet meeting discussed the Note, but no announcement was made. The position is regarded as most grave. Reuter says that diplomatic relations are not likely to be broken off until there is a further exchange of Notes. When pressed for a statement Mr Lansing said that the reply did not meet any of the American demands. New York, December. 18. It is understood that America’s second Note amounts to an ultimatum, demanding ,the presentation of overwhelming evidence or a complete backdown as the alternative of a diplomatic break. German and Austrian newspapers are rejoicing over the pungent, tone of Count Burian’s reply tfi President Wilson.
