TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE, NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Tuesday, December 14th, at my sale of the above produce, 1 catalogued 128 bales and 165 sacks of wool, 1400 sheepskins, 10 casks and 16 tins tallow, 330 hides and 1540 calfskins, to a representative attendance of buyers. Wool was eagerly competed for and all classes advanced from id to id per lb. The bulk of the offering was well grown and showed very little seed. Fleece in sacks made 13d to 14d, with the exception of a few small lots of inferior, which ruled at slightly lower rates. Sheepskins \yere firm at late rates, faulty and short woolled advancing in price. Tallow advanced £1 per ton. Hides.—No ox offering. Cow advanced id per lb. I quote:— Wool. —Crossbred in bales 13Jd to 14id, heavy conditioned and logstained 123 dto 13id, seedy 12d, crutchings 71d to Bid, locks, pieces and bellies, 2-Jd to B*d, scoured 13d to 13id, in sacks, fleece 13d to 14d, inferior 12d, dead Sid to 12d, black BJ-d, crutchings 8d to 9id, pieces Bid, locks sfd to 7d. Sheepskins. Fuil-woolled Hid, hoggets lid to 11-id, spring lambs 9id to 9i{d, pelts 4d .to sfd, farmers’ neglected skins Sid to 10id, pelts 4-id, lambs 7id to lUd, dead, damaged, and torn 63d to 9id, damaged pelts Id to 2d, skin pieces 63d. Damp lines.-“ Heavy 10s 6d to 14s 6d, light 8s 6d to 9s 6d, pelts Is 7d, spring lambs 3s 2d, salted pelts Is 9d to gg 2d, lambs 2s Id to 3s 6d. Tallow.—Best mixed in casks 26s 6d, inferior to medium 24s 6d to 25s gd, in barrels 23s 9d, in tins 18s to 22s Hides.— Cow, heavy Bid to 9d, medium B|d to 9d, light 8d to BJd, ctr 7|d to Bd, farmers’ 7|d to Bgd, ciit 63d, slippy 3*d to sd, ox Bid to 9|d, bull 53d, horse 7s to <s 6d, light to Calfskins.-Firsts 9d to 93d, seconds B|d to 9d, small and meaty Bed8 e d to B|d, cut Bd, shppy oid cut and slippy 4id, slinks 3d each, dry Is 6d.
