BAYLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.
ANNUAL SPORTS COMPETITION. The athletic competitions in connection with the Bayly Memorial Scholarship were held to-day in Yictoria Park, when there was an interested crowd of spectators, the majority of whom we're juvenile friends and supporters of the competitors. The ' events comenced at 10 o'clock and were carried through expeditiously under the supervision of Messrs P. Skoglund. H-. Good, J. Thomas and others. Competition was keen, and in some of the races exciting finishes were witnessed. Especially 1 Was this the case in the Invitation Race, the champion event for Taranaki schools,; and it) which Coutts, of Stratford; won by inches from Bruce,- of New: Plymouth, thus winning the. rubber. \ R. .1. Thomas strained his leg in punting the ball and had to withdraw from the. other events. J The total points secured by each competitor were as follows*-*-Points. G. P.
