PROJECTED RAILWAYS, [United Pkebs Association. 1 (Received 8.55 a.m.) Rome, December 15. An English missionary in Syria reports that important preparations are being made in Jerusalem and Jaffa for the expedition to Egypt under the German General, Trussemer. A double railway has been constructed from Damaseng to Jerusalem and Ghaza, some distance beyond the, ancient frontier of Turkey, and through Egypt to the Isthmns of Suez. One hundred thousand are garrisoning Jerusalem, which has been transformed into an armed camp, and is strongly entrenched, while the convents have been converted into hospitals, The Turco-German staffs keep inhabitants under strict supervision. Seventy thousand Turks, the remnants of the unsuccessful raiders on the Canal .are now camped at Ghaza. There i s a shortage of rifles in the new forces, one hundred men training with the same rifle, and there are only four old gun 8 available for training the artillery.
