Mr Val Duff, commercial director at the Technical College, resigned his position at yesterday's meeting of the Education Board, in order to join the staff of Mr Hugh Baily. The Board accepted the resignation with regret, and steps will be taken to fill the vacancy.

Mr John Caughey, headmaster of one of the largest primary schools in Christchurch, has been appointed As-sistant-Director of Education. His salary will be £650, and his first work will be the preparation of a Dominion scheme of the classification of teach-

George; Huiroa: H. B. Kidd in place of W. Philips; Burford: F. Higgins and Waldan in place of Messrs A. Wood and C. Jensen; and Central: Mr C. T. Mills in place of Rev, T. H. Roseveare. All resigned.
