PRINCESS MARY’S CHRISTMAS GIFTS. All New Zealanders who were mobolised for service on Christmas Day, 1914, are entitled to a parcel of Princess Mary’s Gifts. The New Zealand portion has arrived, an d are available for distribution. The method of procurng them by individual soldiers is explained in the following circular from the Group Office, Hawera: — Gifts for members of'the New Zealand Expeditionary Force an<l local forces serving or mobilised on Christmas Day, 1914, have com e to hand, and will be .distributed to those entitled to them from Palmerston North, through Group Commanders. This applies to District Staffs, Permanent Staff and Teritorials by units of those mobilised for duty and serving on Christmas Day, 1914, at forts, railways ,wireless stations, magazines, and as prisoners of war, guards or other duties, and to those members of the Expeditionary Force that have returned to this district from the front. Distribution will at once be made in the above cases, provided the men are still in New Zealand., Those members of the Expeditionary Force who have returned to New Zealand from Egypt will be notified to claim for gifts. It is the intention that every one in New Zealand serving with the Expeditionary Force who is entitled to the gift should receive it. It was originally intended to send the gift only to those who were actually serving on Christmas Day, but as there would be a difficulty in carrying this out, it wag agreed by H.R.H. Princess Mary’s Fund to take in those who had joined the Forces for active service up till 12th April.
