Barker, for recognition of his services at Chunuk Bair: "Dear Madain.--I bavo just heard with very much pleasure, that your son, 10/,17,31 Private C. R. Barmtj hay been awarded the : D.C.M. decoration. ~Hef showed much gallantry during the heavy fighting in the early paut He fought very gailantly\ on '"Chunuk' Ban" on ; td|»dth of August; aniduriug the two following nights, in hisfivWijness/did very good work:_by ministering to- the wants of woflSMed men, wlip coiddnot: be attended to in, daylight, owing to the exposed nature of. the ground where (they lay. In dphig this* he ran much risk. He also rendered service in guiding some reinforcements up to "Chunuk Bair." As his plattoon commander, I had ™« cJl pleasure in recommending him for recognition, with the above result.
