FUNDS FOR THE RED CROSS.
ONE DAY COLLECTION, £797,000.
THE DOMINION’S CONTRIBUTION

The subscriptions to the special oneday collection to the Red Cross totalled £797,000, whereof Canada contributed £220,000, Egypt £115,000. New Zealand £15,550, Australia £IO,OOO. Lord Landsdowne said the Dominions had given over £250,000 to the Red Cross.

In the House of Lords, Lord Newton stated that a reduction of the ! troops in the field had effected a sav- ! ing of £3500 daily. The Judicial Committee Bill has passed its second reading, enabling sixty-two divisions to be taken simultaneously, otherwise there will be an unusual number of prize-court appeals likely to fall into arrears.
