A PREMEDITATED CRIME Teh Pkess laiwoounotf, Auckland, December l. The Coroner (to the Chief Detective) : Do wo know any differently from that? The Chief Detective: It is generally understood that Gordon had a wife living. The Coroner: In the absence of other evidence we can assume they were married. Miss McKee, continuing, said it was the intention of her sister to leave Gordon. The inquest was adjourned. Gordon was reported this afternoon to bo improving. Search of the room in which the tragedy occurred by detectives brought an interesting document to light, which reveals beyond much possibility of doubt that jealousy was the motive of the crime. One letter written by Gordon to his mother is understood to give instruction as to the disposition of his property, and goes on to allude to a woman in terms suggesting that they co-habited immorally. The letter is stated to further reveal that Gordon had long determined to end the career of the woman and himself, adding, "This is what Fate has decreed for me.'"
