In the House of Commons, Sir Edward Grey said that there had bof.n isolated acts of brigandage and revolt in the south of Persia for several years, but it was not until last spring that the British Government received direct evidence that the elements of the disorder were organised and encouraged by German agents in defiance of the Persian Government.
Only the regular Persian force was available at the time for the restoi-ar tion of order. This force totalled 2500, and a portion was sent to Hamedan in October, but the Persian Government was unable to denude the capital by sefading troops to the remoter provincial centres.
TOWNSHEND'S FORCE AT KUT-EL-AMARA.
The High Commissioner reports: London, Dec. 6 (7.45 p.m.). General Townshend reached Kut-el-Amara without further fighting. TURKISH STATEMENT. United Pbess Association. Amsterdam, December 6. A Turkish communique claims that Turkish troops have occupied Baghela, "VYestende, and Cute Lamarna, and captured three tugs, and a 250ton lighter laden with ammunition.
