A RUSH FOR PASSPORTS.
Per Pbess .association
Wellington, December 7
The Hon. Mr Russell (Minister of Internal Affairs), states that there has been a great rush for passports under the new regulations, something like 500 applications coming to hand in a fortnight. Every application had to be inquired into by the police, and the passports had to go to the Governor for signature; therefore, the applications should reach the Department at least a fortnight before the document was required. Longer notice should be given where possible.
MORE GERMANS FROM SAMOA.

Haensell, a planter, and Brenner, an overseer on the road works. They left under guard by the mid-day express for Wellington yesterday. No definite charge was made against either.
