The Home Defence Corps will parade tin's evening at the usual time and place.
A practical demonstration of the Adriance one-horse mower was given in Regan Street before the Mayor (Mr ,Y. W. Boon) and Councillors this afternoon. Tli e Council arranged the demonstration with a view to the purchase of-a mower. The machine, il purchased by the Council, will lie. used for cutting the grass on the side of the pavements. The mower, which worked very satisfactorily, was explained in detail by Mr Geo. Bradley, of Xowton King’s machinery department, and Mr Sullivan, Borough engineer. Mr Sullivan stated that the mower would do the work of cutting the grass at less cost, and would bo more expedient than the old way ol putting ou two or three men. ihe matter of the purchase of tiie mower will come before the M orks Committee to-night, who will report to the general meeting ol the Council to be held next Monday.
