THE FOOD SHORTAGE.
FATAL RIOTS IN BERLIN. • 200 WORKERS KILLED BY THE MILITARY. HUNDREDS WOUNDED. [United Pkess (Association.-] (Received 8.55 a.m.) New York, December 5. A Berne message states that a dmonstration of Berlin workers which occurred in consequence of the scarcity of food was broken by the military. The soldiers fired on the crowd, and it is estimated two hundred were killed and hundreds wounded.

The German Socialist peace interpellation is the outcome of a party quarrel. The minority want immediate peace on the principle of renunciation of the new territory, whilo the majority consider the Chancellor (Non Bethmann-Holweg) cannot he forced to Jay down such a principle, because it would lie taken abroad as a sigh of weakness.
