FRENCH RELIEF FUND. I CURIOUS CORRESPONDENCE, United Pbkss Association. (Received 8.15 a.m.) • ' London, December 2. i Some curious correspondence has | been published in relation to a fund called the French Relief Fund, which 'raised £140,000 for the ■'Relief of civil victims of the war in France by an organised French Flag Day on July 14. The letters show that Sir John Simon, Mr Churchill, Mr Lloyd George, Lord Crewe, Mr Chamberlain, Mr Bonar Law, and Lord Kitchener, removed I their names from the patrons’ list, and that the police have since notified the British newspapers that it is undesirable to advertise the funds. TOTAL BRITISH CASUALTIES 510,230. (Received 8.>50 a.m.) London, December 2. In Parliament, Air Asquith (Prime Minister), in answer to Mr Molteno, stated that the total British casualties to November 9 were as follows: WEST FRONT. Killed; 4620 officers and 69,272 men - .Hi-:' „! ' 'Wounded: 9654 officers and 240,203 Missing: 1583 officers and 54,546 men. . . ” IN THE M ERI TER RANK AN. Killed: 1504 officers! rand . '21,531 men. . i Wounded: 2560 officers mod.b 70,148 men. Missing: 35G officers ahd 10,211 men. The Navy and other theatres bring the total casualties to 510,230.
