THE SHOW.

PEOPLE’S BAY. I i Fine weather and a large attendance greeted People’s Day at the Stratford Show this morning. A largo number of country visitors arrived by the early morning trains, and vended their way to the grounds, j Judging proceeded apace, and ad arrangements are well in hand for the Grand Parade. Revised Prize List, HORSES. The thoroughbreds embraced some well-bred animals, and the judge singled out for special mention a yearling colt owned by Mr C. Puscoe, Stratford. Lord Form by is a nice bay. bred by his owner on the lines | of Formby—La Milo. In the carriagehorse* classes Mr Evans referred specially to an entry in the filly or gelding class exhibited by Mr .John Bradford, of Awatuna. Alhertross is a colt, and was not eligible in the class, hut he was awarded a special prize, being an exceptionally- nice . two-year-old. "AH the classes of horses and the ponies were very line indeed,” was Mr Evans’ all-round opinion. Referring to the competitions, Mr Evans remarked to the President: “We must encourage the hoys!” This was his excuse for showing his enthusiasm in the business of Shows) as he handed the sum of one guinea to be given as a special prize for the best boy rider under fourteen years at the 1916 Show of the Association. Dunlop, R. Cottier. As might be expected, considerable interest was taken in the Jersey exhibitions. A feature was the special class provided this year by the Stratford Association for* those pedigree cows which had been through the semi-official Government test. ’J hose included the entries in the aged Jerseys in addition to two others. Generally speaking, they were of the true Jersey type, having been proved by bging. through the test. There was the show ring type side by side with the utility class. “1 have never seen better in any show ring,” said the judge, ‘‘they are remarkably line.” Interesting was the decision of Mr McLennan in this (lass, showing dilference of opinion as to the merits of two animals compared to the awards at Hawera. Mr R. J. Linn’s Belvedere Rose secured firsts in both tno fore-mentioned classes,, beating the same owner’s \ esta’s Campanile, which was third, whereas at Hawera the latter secured the red ticket, her byre-mate being unplaced. The ringside was crowded throughout the Butter-fat competition, a special prize of £IJ. given equally by_ this Association and Jersey Breeders , for Jerse cow, anv age, holding antnenticated milk and Initterfat recovus under the Supervision of the N.Z. The champion bull and cow were exceptionally . pleasing to him, and taking the Palmerston North exhibition for comparison, MiCarter held that Stratford was easi • equal if not a shade better. ■ Mr (• Mills (Tokaora). with “Bonnie Lad was a “great hit of goods,” said f - judge.
