The super-sensational drama, Mar is Hell,” quite upheld the reputation that preceded it. The film opens with a Belgian family living peacefully when news arrives of the Kaiser s hotdes approaching—burning the villages and committing other outrages. A British regiment arrives at the farm, but are ordered to attack a detachment of Germans ten miles away. Shortly after, German officers oppear on the scone and endeavour tc find out from the Belgian which direction the British have gone, but he heroically refuses to tell anything, .whereupon he. his wife, and child are made prisoners. The hoy is handed a revolver and is told to shoot his fathei, but the hoy instead shoots the German officer, and in the excitement escapes. Soon the British arrive on the scene, and a most realistic battle ensues, during which a whole detachment of Germans is annihilated. the film Throughout being vivid and realistic. Other films shown are “Making Khaki,” “The Millinery Man,” “Hogan’s Mussy Job” (Keystone), “The Death Train,” and the War Gazette. The programme will be shown to-uight for the last time. CHASE’S VAUDEVILLE CO. TO-NIGHT. This much-discussed variety entertainment will be opened to-night in the Town Hall. Special mention must be made of Mr Ted Pearson (coon delineator and equilibrist), who has just finished a four-months season of the Fnller-Bieunan circuit. \ ioiet and Percy Chase will to-night give their very interesting gun-s winging act, which is very clever; their musical turn is also one which is watched with < T reat interest. Miss La Rosa, in hei great hoop act, is a smart performer, while Mr Fred Carlson has a big reputation throughout Australasia as being the greatest Russian actor-vocal-ist. Quinnold. in his balancing act, is excellent, and Brennan Bros, (head-to-head balancing have caused quite a sensation in New Zealand, and no doubt to-night will meet with a big reception. Mr Jack Chas (coon comedian), is an artist of rare merit. The prices will he 3s, 2s and Is, and pations will he wise to get in early and (secure good seats.
