GENERAL EIRDWOOD IN 'CHARGE. GENERAL GODLEY PROMOTED. Wellington, November 110. A cablegram received by the Defence Minister reports that changes have been made in the command at the Dardanelles. General Birdwood, who has commanded the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps since the commencement of operations, has been placed in control of all the. British, forces at the' Dardanelles, but doubtless he will work under the direction of General .Munro, who was sent to succeed General Sir lan Hamilton, but who has remained at Salonika. General God ley succeeds General Birdwood in command of the Australian and New ' Zealand division oi that corps, and he is succeeded in his position by Brigadier-General Sir A, li. Russell, while Urigadier-Gen-eral Degge commands the Australian Division and other portions of the Army Corps.
