A feature was the special class provided this year by the Strata lord Association for those pedigree cows which had been through ti .• semi-official (Government test. The e included the entries in the aged J‘e - seys in addition to two others. Generally speaking, they were of the tin; * •Jersey type, having been proved by being through the test. There wc, the show ring type side by side wi > the utility class. “I have never se> i better in any show ring.” said t' judge, “they are remarkably tine.” was the decision of Id ■ McLennan in this class, showing difference of opinion as to the merits m two animals compared to the award ; at Hawera. Mr R. J. Linn’s Bel dere Rose secured firsts in both t ■' fore-mentioned classes, beating the same owner’s Vesta’s Campan:' , which was third, whereas at Haw h the latter secured the red ticket, ' :>* byre-mate being unplaced. I ayrshires. I This section was a small one com-

pared to some of others, but there was a splendid showing of the type. The judge remarked that although the entries were small the quality was very good in all classes and quite up to the standard, in fact, the animals would hold their own in any show in the North Island. The champion bull and cow were exceptionally pleasing to'him, and taking the Palmerston North exhibition for comparison, Mr Carter held that Stratford wiis easily equal if not a shade better. Mr F. Mills (Tokaora), with “Bonnie; Lad,’’ was a “great bit, of goods,” said the judge. It was not usual for two-year-olds to gain championship honors, but on this occasiqn he could not do otherwise,as the youngster was full of quality. .j" Bull, calved prior to the Ist July, 1912.—W.
