THE HAWERA SHOW.
PEOPLE'S DAY. The weather was line for People's Day at the Hawera Show yesterday, and there was a large attendance of the public. As the proceeds of this years Show go to swell the. Wounded Soldiers' Fund two shillings was .charged for admittance to the grounds. The parade was a magnificent one, and the animals displayed therein attracted general admiration from the dense crowd gathered around the ring. The competitions proved- very interesting and held the attention of all. Horses,The horse section was a very strong feature of the Show,, and the judges expressed themselves as being well pleased with the animals and remarked that they were a good lot. J. S. Oughton secured both championships in Clydesdales. Dogs.—There was a lamentable falling off in the dog section, and the judge in some cases in which there was no competition did not deem the exhibits worthy of a-first prize. Home Industries.—This was a very strong section, and keen competition resulted in all classes.
Comeptitions.---These were very interesting, and some fine jumping was witnessed, the wire jumping being particularly good. E. Wills' Tasman, ridden bareback by a lad named R. Shaw, beat the previous record of sft Bin by a quarter of an inch. Milch Cows.—This was a very keenly contested section, and the judge remarked that the class of dairy cows was a very strong one. He said they gave everv indication of being neb milk producers. The championship went to R, J. Linn's Belvedere Rose. In giving his. decision the judge remarked that "it was a very fiue animal indeed." THE CHAMPIONS. The list of champions at the show were as follows: — Shorthorn: Bull, Moore, Hunter Estate's Waterloo Killerby; cow, same owner's Nancy Lee. Holstein Fresiau: Bull, W. I. Lovelock's King of Dominoes; cow, same owner's De Kol Hcngerveld Belle IV. Ayrshire: Bull, W. Hall's Little Jim'; reserve, H. E. Rawcliffe's Prince of Pinefield; cow, F. Mills' Lottie ot Waipapa; reserve, same owner's Addie Jersey: Bull, 11. J- Linn's Lord Twvlish; reserve, Wren Bros.' Molina's General; cow, R. J. Linn's Vesta's Campanile; reserve, A. and J O'Donnell's Queen Rainbow. Milch cow: R, J. Linn's Belvedere Rose; reserve, R. J. Linn's Sultans Clematis. , Champion butter-fat cow: I'. Mills Blanche. Champion cheese factory cow: I. Mills' Blanche. HORSESS. Draughts: Entire, J. S. Oughton's Gowan Brae; reserve, Hugh Middleton's Meter. Mare, J. S Oughon s Royal,Queen; reserve, J. S.
