The annual report congratulated clubs and their members on the good feeling and sportsmanship that was a feature of last year's competition. It continued: The shield fell to Okaiawa after a spirited contest. This club deserves a meed of praise for their meritorious win. Hawera B were run-ners-up. During the season two matches were played between North and South, each winning one. The match against Wanganui in the Hawke Cup contest resulted in a win for Wanganui." It was decided to have no shield fixtures this season, but that friendly games be arranged.
