Bradbury has resigned his seat on the Taranaki Education Board, and an election to nil the vacancy is fixed for January 8. ' Mr L. 0. Hooker, of Hawera, last night received a eable saying that his sister. Nurse Hooker, who was one of the nurses in the Marquette disaster, is now laid up with pleurisy, and is in the Xo. 19 Military Hospital at Alexandria. Shortly after arrival in Auckland, Mr All'. McGarry. late of Eltham, entered a private hospital, where he has since undergone an operation, and a telegram has been received in Eltham that he is progressing favorably. Mr.H. Trimble, chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, reports having made the following temporary appointments: Bell Block, Mrs E. Geddes, head teacher; Koru, Miss R. Bason,' sole charge; Waitara. Mrs Lainplough. assistant; Vogeltown, Miss E. Drake, assistant; Kiore, Miss B. Eason, sole charge ;; West End, Mrs Firth, assistant.— Adopted.
