j In another column of this issue there appears the programme of the meeting to be held on January 1 and 3 of next year. Stakes to the amount of £2350 are to be given at the meeting, the largest sums for one race being' the Stratford Cup, on the first day,! of 35050v5., and the Malone Memorial,) of 250sovs. on the second day. Thoj other open events are the Douglas Handicap, of 200sovs. on the first day, and the Ngaere Handicap, of ISOsovs., on the second day. With the other, events, there is an attractive pro-, gramme fod owners, who will no doubt favor the iucreasiugly-popular Stratford meeting with large entries. Two hurdle events are on the list, the Ohura Hack on the first day and the Makuri Hack on the second day, the stakes being 150 and 125sovs. respectively. Envies, nominations, etc., close with the Secretary, Mr Alfred Coleman, on December 6tb, at 9 p.m., with the exception of the Borough Stakes, Farmers’ Plate, and the Cardiff Stakes, which close at the same hour on December 20th. Weights for the first day’s events will be declared on or about Monday, 13th December, 1915, and for the second day’s 'events on Saturday, January 1, at 8 'p.m. Trophies to the value of £6 each will be presented to the riders of the winners of the Farmers’ Plate and Ladies’ Purse. Altogether, the nest meeting should prove a record for the Club if the owners respond in the generous manner which the Club’s efforts deserve. s The attention of owners is drawn to the fact that the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting on 27th and 28th December has two open events each day, making eight open events in the week.
