i ASHHURST MEETING. (Notes by Cicero.) ] After a lapse of. some years, the \ Ashhurst Club will resume racing torlj morrow and a capital clay's sport j should eventuate. White Plume (who has a private reputation) may run well in the Hurdles, whilst Evadne and : Avqii -Park will carry a lot of bullion in the Pohangina Handicap. On Waverley running Vladineau (who. has evidently , Improved with age) must take beating. His Eminence and Jem are'well treated in .the Cup. A similar remark applies to Roumania for the Komako Handicap. . Black Lupin and His Eminence 1 (if started), should run well forward in the Kaumai Handicap, whilst Sea Lord should be handy in the decision of the Mana-; watu Gorge Handicap.

TAKAPUNA MEETING. | The Takapuna Jockey Club's meeting, which' opens to-niorro\v, should have.a successful two days' racing as the fields promise to be large and the probable winners are well f concealed. Of eleven acceptors for tire ■Maiden, Glucian and Sea De'il read best. A number of smart sprinters are engaged in' the Borough Handicap. On Eflerslie form Kitty Bellairs looks good and may get most opposition from, Glenroy. The Ponui Hurdles contains the names of a lot of moderates. If Gallupiii jumps well ho should be hard to beat. Sensitive may account for the others. The St. •Andrew's Handicap bears -a- .very; open 'appearance, j but! possibly- Loyal Arch, Loloma and Mullingar will have most to say in the decision. Hyllus showed a. lot of pace at Ellerslie, and it is only a matter of his getting away well to catch the judge's eye. No less than twenty-two paid up for the Melrose Handicap. Housewife and Mossman have each shown form at times and favoured with a good start must run well. Black Northern (13.0) heads the list for the Tiri Hurdles but despite the load will take a lot ol beating. Spalperion and Ngapoto are the best of the others. Another large entry figures in the Cheltenham Handicap and on this track the start plays a prominent part. However, llewi Poto and Bluestone are sure to finish well. ___________
