THE CALL TO ARMS.

FUTURE REINFORCEMENTS ON POPULAfiON iBASIS. WELLINGTON DISTRICTS GREAT RECORD. ' Per Fkkbs Association. Wellington, November 23. It has been decided to call up men for the 11th Reinforcements upon a population basis, or, namely, on the estimated number of men of military age in the four military districts of the Dominion as given by the Government statistician. The quotas each military district will be called upon to supply, therefore, will be: — ' Auckland, 25 per cent. Wellington, 32.4 per cent. . Canterbury, 24.8 per cent. Otago, 17.8 per cent. The same system will be observed in the case of future drafts pending the completion of the results of the National Registration. During- the past six months the px'actice has been to call up drafts in proportion to the number of registrations in each district. Wellington, under this system, has done well, having the honor to .supply close upon half the total number of men drafted into camp from the whole of New Zealand during the past six months. The registration figures for the whole of New Zealand for week elided Saturday last show the following percentages : # Auckland, 29.0 per cent. Wellington, 42.25 per tent 1 . ■' Canterbury, 16.98 per cent. Otago, 11.67 per cent.
