WOMAN FATALLY STABBED.
MAN USES A BAYONET. ' Unitku Pubbb Association. (lleceivod 9.30 a-.m.) ■ Melbourne. November 22. An elderly woman named Mrs Johnston was fatally stabbed with a bayonet. Her brother, William Quinlan, in a desperate struggle, disannul the murderer, who escaped, hut subsequently John McXamara, Quinlan s son-in-law, who was separated from his wife as the result of frequent quarrels, was arrested on a charge of murdering Mrs Johnston, It appears that McXamara called at the house, where his wife lived with her uncle, Mr Quinlan. .Mrs Johnston opened the door in reply to McNamara’s request to see his wife, and sa j ( l: “|f yon have anything to say, say it to me; if you make trouble wo will send for the police.” McXamara thereupon stabbed her, saying: Thar is all I have to say. Quinlan was not seriously injured.
