EDUCATION DISTRICTS.

TARANAKI BOUNDARIES FIXED.

On Friday the Council of Education completed the definition of the new education district boundaries. The nine districts into which the Dominion has been divided for education purposes under the Act of last session are: Auckland. Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington (with Marlborough), Nelson, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. The Council spent a considerable amount of time weighing the rival claims of Nelson and South Canterbury after eight of the districts had been outlined. The final decision wag in favor of Nelson. The Taranaki Education District now includes the counties of Awakino, Ohura. Clifton, Whangamomona, Taranaki, Egmont, Stratford, Eltham, Waimate West, and Hawera.
