AMUSEMENTS.

HIB MAJEST/S THEATRE. CUBSLE RIVAL’S JONAH. The excellence ol the programme at His Majesty’s Theatre was responsible for a good house last night. Upon its first presentation, the feature film “Gussie Rivals Jonah” kept the audience in roars of laughter throughout it two lengthy parts. The scene in which the comedian, Syd Chaplin, is being chased by a .shark was realistic in the extreme. An exceptionally fine society drama in two parts entitled “Winning Back,” depicted revelry at its highest in a Bohemian Cafe. Other films shown were “The Royal Kngin eers at Work,” the Box Car Trap,” “Mixed Flats,” and everybody’s popular film, “The War Gazette.” On Monday, a complete change will be presented “MOTHER OOOSE” PANTOMIME. During th e recent Auckland season of the “Mother Goose” Pantomime Co., the artists raised a sum of over £BOO by means of a mock court hold at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Mr Will Raynor was the judge and Mr James Gerald the prosecuting attorney. I'hoj were ahi v , ajsißed by Miss Essie Jennings, the unarming principal buy, who disguised in a policeman's hat and coat, arrested all and sundry, in each town in winch the company plays Miss Jennings sings the patriotic song “ lour King and Country Meed You,” her efforts being rewarded by a generous shower of coins, all of which go to the local funds. Miss Jennings is the fortunate possessor of an excellent figure, a good soprano voice, and is an actress of no moan order. She is ably assisted in her part of Boy Blue hy Miss Rosie Coleman, who makes a charming Little Red Hiding Hood. Another artiste of exceptional ability in the comedy line is Miss Carmen Coleman, who plays tile part of Johnny Stent. Amongst the clever specialities are the Wahiue iiaka trio, acrobats and whirlwind dancers, and Miss Ruble Raymond, a charming • exponent of the art of toe dancing. “Mother Goose” can be played in Stratford on Tuesday next, for one night only, the box plan being now open at Grubb’s.
