Mr L. Kith, manager of the Taranaki oilfields, who has keen indisposed for some time, has loft for Auckland on a holiday trip. Lieut.-Colonel F. T. Bellringer, of New Plymouth, has been appointed commandant at the Rangiotu military camp, near Palmerston North, from next February till May. His Majesty tlie King ha s been ! pleased to approve of the retention of the title “Honourable” for life by I Mr Robert Heaton Rhodes, who has served for more than three years as ! a member of the Executive Council of New Zealand. Mr J. H. Hammond, manager of the Cambridge branch of the Bank of | Now Zealand, has been appointed to j succeed Mr E. F. Blundell, who ie- ! tires from the managership of the New Plymouth branch at the end of the year. Miss Maid a Hooker, daughter of Mr L. O. Honker, of Hawera, who has been studying at the Sacred Heart Convent, Timaru. for the past two, years, has just secured the L.A.B. degree in connection with the Royal Academy, London. She gained 163 marks ont of a maximum of 200. Mr James Webster, a very old settler of the Oust district. North Canterhnrv, is dead. Included in his family are Miss Bessie M ouster, who for years ha s been engaged in missionary work in China, and Mr A. "Webster, who was recently appointed inspector for the Bank of Australasia for the Commonwealth. Ml- T-I. J. Lowe, who has been chief draughtsman in thp Survey Office at Now Plymouth for the last four years, has received notice of his promotion to a similar position in the Auckland office. His successor will be Mr F. Carrington, who lias been acting chief draughtsman for some months at the Napier office. - ' -'*-® A visit will be paid to New Zealand next February by Archbishop Bona venture Ccretti, Apostolic delegate in Australasia. He will be accompanied by bi s private secretary, Hr; Ormond. They will travel from Melbourne to Wellington, and will make a. tour of the South and North Islands, sailing from Auckland for Svdncv at the conclusion’of the tour.
