In the House of Lords Baron Rihhlesdale .said that it is common knowledge that General -Monro reported in .favor of withdrawing from Gallipoli and avoiding a winter campaign. Lord Lansdowne replied that the Government considered that insufficient anil had sent Lord Kitchener to the •Mediterranean.
