(“A Coaster’s Freight.”—By Robert J.Bakewell). An artistically i produced , Look of verse reaches us from the Ayery Press, Now Plymouth; It is; by |'Jj. 1 a well-known-‘i resident iof Tnglewootj, and 1 is' entitled, ‘/A’ Chaster’ s'Freight.” It'lias the breezy touch to be expected from an “Old Salt” who is also something of a poet, and the cargo cm examination proves a miscellaneous one indeed. I here aie “songs that cheered a mate, tales of “wreck and war’s distress,” and ditties of fair maids.” Much of the verse strikes a high patriotic note, and there is a stirring appeal to the men of New Zealand'to listen of the call to arms. The litle work, which should he welcomed widely, is published at the modest price of Is 6d, or 2s Od in cloth boards.
