At Stratford, ou Tuesday, 9th mat.,. notwithstanding tho boisterous wea-j ther, I had a good yarding of all classes, for which, in reasonable weather, I would have had spirited competition,"* but the hailstorms dining the day kept a good number of buyers under cover. However, V' rey P ect ' v 0 j of this, I had a very fair sale, a good, proportion of the yarding being clear-j ed at the following prices:—Choice--15-month heifers (farmers' lines) £3.; 13s Od to £3 17s, good £3 to £3 7» 6d, fair £2 10s to £2 15s, small £1 18s to £2 6s <Jd, yearling steers, all rough, £2 19s to £3 lis, thin store cows £4 Is, good store cows £5 5s to £6 lis, forward cows £6 12s to £7 19s, fat cows £8 los to £ll 10s, empty 2-year heifer* £3 19s to £4 Bs, bulls £6 5s to £9 10s, empty ewes 23 s 3d to 25s Gd, aged ewes and lambs (small line) 26s 2d, good hoggets 22s 3d, culls 17s 9d. At the Springing Heifer yards on the same day, 1 had a smaller entry of dairy cattle than usual, the size and quality of which was second grade. Bidding was fairly good, best heiferg selling up to £8 10s, the 25 head sold averaging £5 los. At Stony River on Wednesday 10th, I had a fair entry, for which there was good enquiry, all lines being &oIJ at the hammer as follows:—Holstein 15-month heifers (good) £4 2s, goon grades £3 2s to £3 7s, smaller £2 to £2 7s, 15-month steers from £3 10s to £3 16s for fair cattle, small £2 7i 6d to £2 15s, empty 2-year heifers £4 2s 6d, 3-year bullocks £8 14s, fat c»ws £8 lis to £lO 6s, forward cows £6 2s to £7 4s, store cows £4 10s to £5 17*. small and thin £3 2s to £3 18s, yearling Shorthorn bull £4 15s, yearling Holstein bull £4 10s, pedigree Jersey yearling bull 7 guineas, dairy bulls £6 7s 6d to £lO 10s, bulls for boning £7 7s 6d to £lO 7s 6d, dairy cows £6 to £lO 10s, springing heifers (all small) £3 los to £6 10s, weaner pig s 15s to 19s.
