RECRUITS FAREWELLED.
ON THE STRATFORD; STATION. ]>espite the inclemency of the weather a mOst enthusiastic farewell was tendered to the Stratford members of /he 10th Reinforcements who left for Trentham Camp by special troop train last evening. The men assembled at the school gymnasium, and' accompanied by the Pipe Band, marched to the Railway Station, where the Mayor (Mr J. W. Boon), in a few well-chosen words, wished the men farewell. He said the men >vho were gqing away, had a high ; standafd to_ .keep t up, hut he was, sure they Atould' do tliat. The men; liad ' heard-fee call and were %oing'Mfighl I Prussian Militarism. Mr Boon mad<| ,■ one plla to the men who were departinJ, and that was to '.'keep, sober.* The speaker, 6n behalf of the irjkizens of Stratford, wished the men God speed and a safe return. Prolonged cheers were given for the King and the 10th Reinforcements. After the men had been entrained the public were allowed on the plat- , form. The train drew out of the sta- ' tion amid the strains of "Tipperary" and cheers for the men. The Municipal Band was present and played appropriate music.
