STRATFORD LAWN TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The coming of age of the Stratford Lawn Tennis Club was celebrated by annual business meeting in Messrs Rutherfurd, McAllister and Coleman's offices. In their 21st annual report •the committee submitted an account of another very successful season. During the the lawns have had considerable labor bestowed upon them and should be in excellent order for the opening season. In financial matters the club shows an improvement, and its position is sound. Three interclub matches were played, all of which were won by a substantial margin. Unfavorable weather and other causes prevented more matches being played. The men's championship was won by Mr R. 13. Anderson, and the ladies' chompionship by Miss Mackay. The membership of the club for the season was 28 men and 396 ladies, as comparwas 28 men and 37 ladies, as comparvious season. With regard to the loss of members who have gone to the war, the club is justly proud that ten of its players have gone on active service, two of whom have given their lives for the Empire. It was decided to continue play as in previous seasons, and the committee is recommended to watch expenditure "carefully and call a general meeting should any signs of financial retrogression appear. The election for the various offices resulted as follows-.—President, Dr. T. L. Paget; vice-Presidents, Messrs W H. H. Young, F. N. Fussell, H. E. Abraham, and W. J. Crawshaw. Committee, Messrs R, B. Anderson, E. S. Rutherfurd, H. Symonds, D. Cameron and J. H. Thompson. Hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr E. S. Rutherfurd. Hon. auditor, Mr A. Coleman. ' The opening day is to be Thursday, 18th November. Two new members were elected, Miss Speuce and Miss Falder.
