“One who was there” writes to say that perhaps readers would like td have the words of the Russian National Anthem. Mr D. McLaren referred to ibis hymn at last night’s function at the Town Hall, and gave it as evidence of a people with great ideals, and whom we are proud to claim as our Allies. It will be noted how lofty and fnll-sonled are the words, especially at such a time as the present. The same writer suggests that the various churches of the town use the hymn in their services from time to time, especially as we are now so familiar with the air:— God the Omnipotent, -Mighty Avenger, Watching invisible, judging unheard. Doom ns not now in the hour of our danger; Give, to ns peace in our time, 0 Lord. God the all-wise, hy the tire of Thy chastening Earth shall to freedom and truth he restored. Through the thick darkness, Thy Kingdom is hastening, Thou will give peace in Thy time O Lord. So shall Thy children in thoughtful devotion, < Land Him who saved them from peril abhorred, Singing in chorus from ocean to ocean— Peace to the nations and praise to the Lord. A Monster Gift Stock Sale for Wounded Soldiers’ Fund is being organised by the Auctioneers of Stratford and the 1 ' Patriotic Committee. Promises of gifts will be welcomed, and every member.of the Patriotic General Committee is asked to work hard and make the sale an unqualified success. *
