On the same day at Stratford for my weekly springing heifer fair, 1 hud a. record sale. The special entry of 42 dairy cows on account of Mr D. 1 audio, of Puniwhakau, attracted uumetous buyers from all parts o the district, and considering that these sows were in milk, great prices were obtained, the highest being GlB 10s, but tho other prices were consistent, the hex’d of -12 making the good average of Gl2 Os bd, which must he considered very satisfactory. Heifers calved, on account of Mr Yandle made G 8 lUs to £ll, and spring heifer s on account of other vendors sold very readily at prices up to Gl2 and down to £4 10s to GU 5s for backward stuff, dairy cows made GU 10s to £9 10s, the 100 head of dairy cattle sold, averaging £0 10s bd.

Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows :—• On Saturday, 23rd October, we held our supplementary horse fair, when we had a very fair entry of all classes, but the demand was mostly for horses of the heavy class, which .sold well. Hacks were plentiful and sold cheap. Good medium draughts brought £3O to £32, lighter horses £23 to £27, medium £l4 15s to £lB, hacks (good) £9 to £ll 15s, poorer £0 to £SB ss, poor and aged horses £3 to £5, saddles £1 5s to £5. At this sale we ottered on hehadf ol the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund a luiare donated by Messrs Wickham Bios., which sold and resold as loiiows : Purchased by Win. hot' our fortnightly sale, held in out (Stratford yards on Tuesday, 2nd iust., Iwe had a good yarding of 55U head ol 'cattle, most of which wore cleared at jthe following prices, which arc somei what higher than those secured at previous sales; —Fat cows £9 to £lO, forward cows £8 to £8 lUs, good store Tows £7 to £7 17s; poorer store cows l£G to £7 IDs, small store cows 87s to jlißs Ud, small and aged store cows loos to 81s, yearling steers otis to 74s i(3d, yearling heifers -Ids to 74s Ud, wcauer heifers 28s to 40s, 2 year heifers 79s to 80s Ud, wcanor bulls 38s, works bulls io.s Ud to 4<os. At this sale wo also olfered on account of Mr Chas. Carlcy, Cardiff, a very nice line of yearling heifers, which showed breeding and quality. There was keen competition tor this line, which realised £3 1.4 s Ud.
Our next fortnightly sale will bo] held Tuesday, IGtb lust. ! Ou Tuesday, 2nd hist., we also held) our weekly springing heifer sale in our I Stratford yards, when we had a small' entry. Prices were inclined to be j lower, hut wo sold a lan number at, the following prices:—Good 3 year ole j heifers £8 5s to £8 IDs, backward calv-j ers £5 15s to £0 7s Gd, calved cows) £5 7s Gd to £5 15s, dairy cows (calved) j £8 10s. Our ilext Stratford heifer sale ’will bo held on Tuesday, 9th inst. j For our Ivohuratahi sale, held on. Thursday, 4th November, we had a yarding of 29G head of cattle and 140 sheep, most of which were sold at full' current prices, and in some cases at, advanced rates. There was a fair attendance of the public and there would ( have been a larger yarding but for thei preceding bad weather. Store cows £4, 2s Gd to £G Os, 2 year empty heifers 80s to 90s, 2 year steers £G Gs, yearling steers £8 4s, 2 year bulls £7, A choice line of 45 2 year old Holstein heifers, empty, sold on account of Messrs Wyatt Bros., brought £o 12s Gd, f.m. ewes (empty) IGs 9d, 2 and 4 tooth ewes (empty) 24s lUd, ewes and lambs 20s to 29s Gd. . Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held c i Thursday, 9th December.
