T. Belcher. Messrs Bae and Barker, who have just returned invalided, will be welcomed home. Mr J. Brown, who was lately operated on in Stratford for appendicitis. is home, again.

The local Senior Cadets will, instead of the ordinary drill, be taken on a route march to Midhirst this evening, i'lie Cadets, who will be under Lieutenant Cray, will be headed by the Pipe Band whH“ on the march. The only business to oei npy the civil sitting of the Stratford .Magistrate’s' Court this morning was the case, Hannah M. Lockwood (Mr P. Thomson) v. Leonard Taylor, in which the Magistrate (Mr W. The usual weekly Patriotic Market will be conducted by Mrs Paget, assisted by Mesdames Curtis*and Massey, in the C.B.A. Buildings to-mor-row. The promoters have arranged with a Wanganui grower for a largo stock of fresh vegetables, and this should, in itself, tempt a considerable number of customers. Besides the usual stock of preserves, cakes, butter, cheese, flowers, etc., a batch of Christmas puddings will he on sale. A prohibition order was issued agailist a Cardiff resident at tlio Stratford Magistrate’s Court this morning after an information of excessive drinking had been heard. The defendant did not appear. Sergeant Dale said he knew the defendant, who had been convicted for drunkenness in January and again in August of this year. The man seldom came into town but what he got inheriated. It was a well-known fact that the happiness of the man’s home had been disturbed owing to his drinking habits. Constable McGowan .said all tile windows iu the man’s house were broken and lie was continually boating his wife. Aftei' a trip to town the defendant would wait until the cows had been milkcu and the output ready for the factory, then die would empty tlio milk from the cans on the side of the road. Patriotic Committees and Dairy Factory Companies not represented on the Stratford Patriotic Committee are kindly asked to nominate a member and forward name to the lion, sec,. J. W. McMillan.
