NAVY'S FINEST SPIRIT. HEROIC BLUEJACKETS AT THE RENDING OF THE ARGYLL. United Press Association. (Received 8.30 a.m.) London, November 2. The wonderful descipline of the crew was the outstanding feature of the Argyll's stranding. There was terrible weather, and the night was pitch dark. The ship was badly smashed, hut quietly the crew took their stations on the wave-swept decks, and though the sound of the rending of the hull was plainly audible, they Waited in a half-frozen state for developments. It was an instance of the Navy's finest spirit. Wirelessly they called for rescuers, who on arrival skilfully took off everyone despite the darkness and rough sea.
ACCIDENT AT GIBRALTAR. TORPEDOER SUNK IN COLLISION. (Received 8.45 a.m.) London. November 2. The Admiralty states that torpedoer No. 90 was sunk yesterday at Gibraltar in a collision with a mercantile auxiliary vessel. Two officers and nine of the crew are missing. »..m. iiiiii ——»»—■ I
