Baron Obata, Japanese Charge d'Affaires, in a friendly letter. warned China against the proposed Monarchical restoration, which is calculated to cause internal trouble and disturb the peace in the Far East. He urged postponement, and added that Japan had no intention to interfere with China's internal affairs. Japan's sole object was to safeguard the interests of her European Allies. The British and Russian Ministers were preent at the interview, and it is significant that, although they associated themselves with the advice. Baron Obata was spokesman.
